The team took the time to listen to what I liked/disliked. In fact, I met them at the door with a list of all the recommended plants for our growing zone and I had highlighted what I liked and more importantly made sure they understood which I completely disliked.
The team evaluated the grounds, the soil, the light, the drainage, and listened to our woes about our deer problem and then they took my list and came up with a plan that made the landscaping less attractive to the deer while providing great year round beauty. They spent the time to carefully review the plan and made sure I was comfortable and excited. One of the most impressive parts of this entire process was their desire to give new homes to some of the items that were still alive and useable within the existing landscape. The guys were quick and constantly cleaning up after themselves.
During this process I made the plea to my husband that reality would be that this gorgeous landscaping could not be maintained at this level of beauty with my hands. While I love gardens and landscaping, I detest gardening. We negotiated with Adam and now the crew comes to check up, maintain and refresh things every 3-4 weeks depending upon weather conditions. And they do more than just pull weeds and trim the dead ends, when you least expect it they will blow all the fallen leaves off the yard and drive. They do a little edging if its needed. You name it, they make my yard look WONDERFUL.

At the beginning of this year I found a flyer for Outdoor Creative Design while standing in line at the local grocery store. What caught my eye was that it was a local business advertising at a local business… that matters to me. Additionally, I’d been trying to find a company for years to help me manage the outside of my house only to get the same story over and over again. They come, walk around and talk about my needs, but I end up with a generic program that didn’t seem to take into account all of the nuances that make my situation a little different. And that was why I gave Outdoor Creative Design the job. They came, walked around and answered each little question with an appreciation for the work I’ve done and also an open approach to how we can knock off projects in a multitude of ways. They were there to help in any way I needed – that is magic.
The first project They did for me was cleaning up my landscaping areas. I was curious to see how it would be handled because it’s nothing too glamorous, just good old fashioned hard work. The day started with a text from my wife saying that the guys were there so that I could keep track of their time. But then, throughout the day I kept getting little ‘one liners’ commenting how hard they are working and all of the extra little things she saw them doing… coming from my wife, that said a lot. And sure enough, when I got home I was blown away. They did the job in a way I would have, meaning it was all the way done and then some, almost personal.
A few months later, Adam reached out to me about some of the other miscellaneous projects we’d talked about during our first encounter and it sealed the deal. While I know this is his livelihood, his job, I feel like he cares and that is what makes Outdoor Creative Design different. For example, this summer has been absolutely brutal on my lawn so I reached out to Adam for advice, perspective and help. He could have sold me on any solution because it’s that dire. However, his response basically said that if he did anything to my lawn in this heat, it would make it worse. Here is a company who depends on this type of work choosing to not take advantage of peoples naivety and do the right thing. Again, this integrity humbled me and made me take ownership of my side of the partnership with OCD offering them a job that I wasn’t planning on doing this year.
What I have come to know about Adam and OCD is that they will always do it the right way… not only the right treatment/plan/program, but treating people the right way. That’s seriously a big deal to me. I’ve gone so far as to jokingly request he brings some rain over to my house every now and again. But true to his character, here’s how he replied, “I will try! This drought and heat is killing me! All I can do is take care of people!” To which I said, “Do that and your business will last any drought.”

“I absolutely love my new back garden. Jamie did a great job on the design and paid close attention to the details that were important to us — foliage that ran the gamut of yellow shades to bright greens to burgundies. His use of repeating trees and shrubs that already exist on the property has helped tie all the landscaping together so seamlessly.
The dry creek bed is an excellent functional element that helps drain rainwater quickly and effectively but is so beautifully done that it adds a lot of architecture interest.
Plus he and his helpers were so pleasant to deal with. It was entirely a fun project - start to finish.
Will definitely be using OCD again. In fact, we’re already discussing the next project”
